Get away from public attention.
Dear reader, there is something I have seen that is damaging God’s Kingdom. There are some Christians, especially ministers of God who will have sleepless nights if a week passes without any TV station showing them at a certain public place or when they do no see their picture in any newspaper. I am not talking about TV ministry. I am talking about the obsession to be known. The Lord instructed me to tell serious Christians involved in ministry to concentrate on Kingdom work instead of constantly seeking public attention.
Jesus Christ avoided public attention.
When you examine the life of our Lord Jesus Christ you will realize that he always avoided public attention as indicated in the following Scriptures:
“Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” Matthew 9:29-30
“Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[g] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him. Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down.” Mathew 4:25–Mathew 5:1”
“When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.” Mathew 8:18
“Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone.” Matthew 8:3-4
Dangers of seeking public attention.
You are seeking to glorify your name instead of God
When you glorify your name on earth, then you are forgetting God our Father who assigned you your ministry.
You lose some of your rewards in Heaven.
When you seek publicity on Earth it means you are seeking recognition by man instead of God. Earthly recognition will rob you of your Heavenly rewards.
Preoccupation with earthly recognition.
When you seek earthly publicity, then you will be always concentrating on maintaining your reputation instead of accomplishing God’s work.
Public attention will expose you.
The more you seek public attention, the more people will get to know your personal life, your mistakes and your weaknesses.
Satan will fight to bring you down.
When you seek public attention, then know that Satan will always be fighting to bring you down.
Jealousy
When you seek public attention you indirectly provoke jealousy from fellow ministers of God and from your enemies. They will fight to keep you down.
You are wasting resources.
When you seek publicity you waste a lot financial resources that would have been used to win lost souls into God’s Kingdom.
Inviting curses and Hell.
When you seek publicity you are unknowingly inviting curses upon your life. You are also inviting Hell to come closer to your life.
Get away from publicity.
If you want to be at peace with God, I advise you to get away from public attention. It is better to concentrate on the work God assigned you in His Kingdom. If you take this advice you will get peace of heart and great rewards in Heaven.
