Job lacked this weapon.
Job lacked this weapon.
Dear reader, if Job knew this weapon against Satan, he would not have lost anything and he would not have suffered.
Job’s losses.
Job suffered the following losses:
He lost all his children – seven sons and three daughters.
All his seven thousand (7,000) sheep died.
He lost three thousand (3,000) camels.
All his five hundred (500) yoke of oxen died.
All his five hundred (500) donkeys died.
All his large number of servants vanished.
Satan afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.
Job was not aware of Satan’s activities in Heaven.
Like many Christians today, Job was not aware of the following facts:
He was not aware that the cause of all his problems was Satan.
He was not aware that Satan had the ability go before God’s presence in Heaven.
Job was not aware that Satan could accuse him before God in Heaven.
Job knew that God loved him. What he never knew was that God could give Satan permission to come on earth and put him under severe trials.
Another thing that Job did not know.
There is something else very important that Job did not know. He never knew that there was a specific prayer he would have made to God to protect him from Satan, the Devil’s accusations, and all the losses.
Jesus warned his disciples about Satan’s activities in Heaven.
God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to Earth not only to die for our sins, but also to reveal to us many secrets about God’s Kingdom; or call it the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus Christ was aware that Satan had the habit of going before God to accuse believers on earth, just as he did in the case of Job. Jesus saw Satan going back to heaven before God. This time he wanted to put the twelve disciples of Jesus under great trials and temptations. When Jesus saw Satan before God he warned his disciples as follows:
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:31-32.
What saved the disciples was Jesus’s prayer. He interceded for them. He pleaded with God that Satan does not put them to great tests and trials as he did with Job. God listened to Jesus and Satan was barred from testing the disciples.
Here is the weapon Jesus gave us against Satan.
One time the disciples of Jesus asked him to teach them how to pray. Jesus accepted their request and he gave them a prayer that included a very powerful weapon against Satan. This weapon is found within the Lord’s Prayer. He instructed them to always pray to our Father in Heaven that:
“Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[a]
And lead us not into temptation.[b]’” Luke 11:4.
Dear reader, this is the weapon Jesus gave his disciples, and all Christians against Satan and the accusations he keeps on making before our Father in Heaven. If you pray like this everyday, then God will not give Satan permission to tempt you as he did with Job.
If only Job knew this weapon against Satan.
If Job had been praying every day that our Father in Heaven forgives him his sins; pleading with him not to lead him into temptation, then God would not have permitted Satan to go and tempt Job. This is the weapon Job missed.
Use this weapon daily.
Dear reader, you can counter Satan’s accusations against you before God by praying as Jesus instructed us. Pray the Lord’s Prayer daily especially the part that says:
“Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[a]
And lead us not into temptation.[b]’” Luke 11:4
If you pray like this daily, God will deny Satan permission to tempt you and to put you under trials. For details about the working of this prayer please read for free: Overcoming Satan with one Verse.
