Dear reader, there are certain things in this world that infuriate God. Here are seven things that annoy God the most.
1. Arrogant pride.
First, God is annoyed by what the Bible calls “haughty eyes”. This is a figure of speech for arrogant pride, characterized by looking down on others and a sense of self-exaltation or superiority.
This proud disposition is seen as sinful and offensive to God because it defies His sovereignty and the dignity of fellow humans, leading to behaviors like arrogance, disdain, and insensitivity towards others.
2. A lying tongue.
Second, the Lord hates lying lips, but those who speak the truth are His joy. God takes lying seriously. For whoever lies to his neighbor also lies to God.
3. Hands that shed innocent blood.
Third, God is annoyed by the shedding of innocent blood. This act speaks to the heart of injustice, the destruction of life that has done no wrong, and this applies to many areas in our society today, including the issue of abortion.
4. A heart that devises wicked schemes.
A heart that devises wicked schemes describes a person with a corrupt inner life who actively plans and plots evil, harmful, or sinful actions. Not only God judges wicked deeds, but also the evil thoughts and intentions that originate in a person’s heart. Such a heart is the source of all evil, leading to immoral actions, hurting others, and acting against divine will.
5. Feet that are quick to rush into evil.
“Feet that are quick to rush into evil” refers to a deliberate eagerness and readiness to participate in harmful actions, wrongdoing, or wickedness, often without resistance or discernment.
6. A false witness who pours out lies.
Furthermore, God hates a false witness. A false witness is one who stands up and swears before others that something untrue is true, especially with the intention of hurting someone.
7. A person who stirs up conflict in the community.
This describes someone who sows discord and division among people, often through gossip, slander, or manipulation. Such behavior fractures relationships, tear communities apart, and create lasting damage.
