I urge every Christian to have a hard copy Bible for a better interaction with God. In this article, I show you how God miraculously speaks to me through the hard copy Bible.
The VIP Visitor came!
First, I remember once we organized a very large Christian conference, and the president of our country was supposed to inaugurate it on the first day. However, the day before the gathering, we received bad news from the president’s office: he would not be able to inaugurate it due to other pressing national obligations. We were very disappointed because we had dedicated a lot of time and effort to this invitation.
During my evening prayer, I randomly opened my Bible, and suddenly, a verse jumped out of the Bible into my eyes!
This verse read:
37 For,
“In just a little while,
he who is coming will come
and will not delay.”[a]
I knew it was God speaking to me. I immediately told my colleagues that God had told me the President would be coming. Many doubted my words, but later confirmed them when they saw the President’s security detail surrounding the conference venue. Indeed, later that day, the President opened our meeting, as God had confirmed with His word.
God directed me to give!
Another day, while attending a large Christian conference in Anaheim, USA, I decided not to make an offering for the morning service. I reserved my offering for the evening service, where more powerful men of God would be ministering.
As I sat there, watching other believers give, something prompted me to open my printed Bible. I opened it at random. Suddenly, verse 6 of chapter 11 of Ecclesiastes jumped out at me!
This verse read:
Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
I knew immediately that God had spoken to me through this verse. I quickly repented and presented my offering to God.
The stone the builders rejected became the cornerstone!
On another occasion, since I didn’t have an MBA, my organization advertised my position. They were looking for a more qualified manager. After praying about this matter that night, I randomly opened my Bible and a verse jumped out of the Bible into my eyes!
It was Matthew 21:42, which said:
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:
“‘The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’[a]?
I knew immediately that God was speaking to me through this verse. God assured me that no one would take my position. This happened after my organization interviewed seven applicants but didn’t select any for the advertised position! I kept my job because God had told me so.
The prisoner was released!
Another night, I was praying for someone who had spent a year in pretrial detention after being falsely arrested for murder. After praying, I opened my printed Bible. The page I opened was Isaiah chapter 51. Then, suddenly, verse 14 jumped out at me! It read as follows:
The cowering prisoners will soon be set free;
they will not die in their dungeon,
nor will they lack bread.
I knew immediately that God had spoken to me through this verse. Then, after some miraculous events, the court released this man after he was declared innocent.
Many other incidents.
There are many other instances where God has spoken to me from my printed Bible. However, space doesn’t permit me to recount them all, as I rarely write articles of more than 500 words.
I conclude by urging every Christian to have a printed Bible for better interaction with God. Such interaction is difficult if you rely solely on the soft copy Bible on your phone.
