Dear reader, God’s mercies and forgiveness never end. Here are four people you thought were in hell but are actually in heaven.
1. Samson
To begin with, you might think that after his sinful relationship with Delilah and his shameful death, Samson ended up in hell. But the opposite is true. Toward the end of his life, Samson repented and asked God for forgiveness.
Listen to how Samson pleaded with God:
Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me!”
Judges 16:28
To prove that God forgave Samson, He gave him a second chance to walk righteously and fulfill his mission. Then God restored his supernatural power, and he became more destructive than when he lived in sin.
In fact, the Bible says that Samson killed more people after his repentance than those killed when he lived in sin. (see Judges 16:30). Because of his repentance, Samson is now in heaven.
2 & 3. Adam and Eve.
Second, you might think that after their sin in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve ended up in hell. On the contrary, the opposite is true. Adam and Eve repented and asked God for forgiveness. How do we know that Adam and Eve repented?
This truth is found in the fact that Adam and Eve made sacrifices, which by then were necessary to restore their relationship with God. Not only did they make these sacrifices, but they also taught their children to do the same (see Genesis 4:3-4).
4. King David.
Despite living a sinful life and his fornication with Bathsheba, King David also lived a life of repentance. If we look at many of his Psalms, they are filled with words of repentance. As a result, God forgave King David and even made his son, the fruit of a sinful relationship, king.
