This article is addressed to Christians who do not take holiness seriously. Sin will delay your promotion in the Kingdom of God.
Adam and Eve.
Originally, Adam and Eve were destined to become the most important human beings on earth. Indeed, God intended for them to rule over all creation. However, they failed to take holiness seriously, and sin ruined their lives.
Samson.
Secondly, God had intended for Samson to defeat all the enemies of Israel. However, because of Samson’s sin, the enemies of Israel ultimately ended up dominating him.
Moses.
Third on this list is Moses. He sinned by striking a rock twice to provide water for the Israelites instead of speaking to it as God commanded. This sin resulted in Moses not entering the Promised Land.
King David.
Additionally, in 2 Samuel chapter 7 God made many promises to King David. In fact, King David would have been greater than what he was.
However, he committed adultery with Bathsheba and then arranged for her husband, Uriah, to be killed in battle to cover up his sin. Therefore, God could not promote King David any further.
Jonah, the prophet of God.
Jonah’s disobedience was his act of fleeing from God’s direct command to preach judgment to the evil city of Nineveh. Instead of going east to Nineveh, he sinned by fleeing to Tarshish. This action that led to a great storm at sea, the mariners casting lots to discover the cause, and Jonah being thrown overboard to calm the tempest.
God then caused a great fish to swallow Jonah, where he remained for three days and three nights in repentance before being vomited onto dry land.
Stay away from sin.
Therefore, stay away from sin and acts of the flesh if you want promotion in the Kingdom of God.
Listen to what the word of God in the Bible says:
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
