There is no other anthem comparable to that of Germany. This article shows you why the Rock of Ages loves the Germany national anthem.

The tune of the German anthem is similar to that of a Christian Hymn.

To begin with, you should know that the melody of the German national anthem is exactly the same as that of a Christian hymn entitled “Of Glorious Things of Thee We Sing.” No other country in the world has a national anthem with a melody similar to  a Christian song worshipping our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, every time the German national anthem is sung, it is as if one were praising and worshipping the Rock of Ages, who is none other than our Lord Jesus Christ.

This Christian song was composed in 1779.

Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken“, also called “Zion, or the City of God“,[1] is a 1779 English hymn written by John Newton, who also wrote the hymn “Amazing Grace“. The hymn was written by Newton after he had asked for assistance from his friend and neighbour, classical writer William Cowper, while he was the Church of England parish priest of Olney Church.[4] With Cowper’s assistance, Newton was able to publish the Olney Hymns Hymnal, which included “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”, in 1779.[6] The hymn is based upon Psalm 87:3 and Isaiah 33:20–21.[4]

The German National Anthem was composed 1841.

The German national anthem, the “Deutschlandlied”, uses lyrics from August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1841) set to the melody of Joseph Haydn’s 1797 “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser“.  Interestingly, “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser” had already got its melody from “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”.

The Germany Anthem always reminds Christians about God.

In conclusion, everytime the Germany national is sung, Christians are reminded about Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken” which honors God our Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
