Dear reader, many times God our Father is privately warning people to change their evil ways but they don’t listen. As a result God turns to other means of getting their attention for repentance.
In this article I show you seven signs that God wants you to repent.
A warning dream.
God’s warning starts at a personal level. Our Father in heaven will send you an angel to warn you in a dream that what you are doing is not right.
This is exactly how God warned King Nebuchadnezzar (see Daniel 4:13-27). Repent quickly after such a dream.
Affliction.
Sometimes God uses affliction as a warning that a person must repent of his evil ways.
Listen to what the written word of God in the Bible says:
But if people are bound in chains,
held fast by cords of affliction,
9 he tells them what they have done—
that they have sinned arrogantly.
10 He makes them listen to correction
and commands them to repent of their evil.
11 If they obey and serve him,
they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity
and their years in contentment.
12 But if they do not listen,
they will perish by the sword[a]
and die without knowledge.
Sending a messenger to you.
Sometimes God sends messengers to warn people that they must repent of their evil ways. This is what God did with King David when he committed adultery (see 2 Samuel 12:1-13).
Exposed by your spouse.
God can use your spouse to expose your sin. When this happens, repent without any delay and start a new life with Jesus Christ.
Your sin exposed to your family.
If your sin is exposed to the whole family, then you must ask for God’s forgiveness and start living a life of holiness with the Holy Spirit.
Exposed to the general public.
If a person does not heed to all God’s warnings, God may decide to expose his sin to the general public. This is exactly what God did to King David.
Listen to what God said:
This is what the Lord says:
‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you.
Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you,
and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.
You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.
A near death experience.
Sometimes God brings a near-death-experience so that a person repents of his sins.
Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed,
and get a new heart and a new spirit.
Why will you die, people of Israel?
For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone,
declares the Sovereign Lord.
Repent and live!
