Dear reader, the Lord wants you to know these important facts. This article shows you how God daily leads Christians into temptation.

Can Heavenly Father really lead us into temptation?

First, we must ask ourselves if our Heavenly Father can lead us into temptation. The answer to this question is yes, our Heavenly Father can actually lead us into temptation.

This is why our Lord Jesus Christ asked us to pray like this every day:

And lead us not into temptation.[b]

Why does God lead us into temptation?

Second, we must ask ourselves why our loving Father subjects us to temptation. The answer is that Satan accuses us day and night before God (see Revelation 12:10). The devil tells God that we are not as faithful as he thinks we are.
Therefore, to prove to the devil that Christians are faithful, God may lead us into tempting situations to test our faithfulness.

Heavenly Father led Adam and Eve into temptation.

Third, we have to look at what happened to the first man and woman on earth. Satan was already in existance and he accused Adam and Eve before God. Satan told God that Adam and Eve were not faithful as he thought. Consequently, Heavenly Father planted the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden to test Adam and Eve.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was to test the faithfulness of Adam and Eve.

Listen to how God led Adam and Eve into temptation:

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

God led our Lord Jesus Christ to be tempted.

Additionally, we have to look at the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the beggining  of Jesus Christ’s ministry on earth, the Lord led Jesus into temptation.

Listen to what actually happened:

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil.

Matthew 4:1

As we all know, our Lord Jesus Christ overcame all the temptations, and this pleased our Heavenly Father.

What are we supposed to do?

Since our Lord Jesus Christ had the experience of being led into temptation, he advised all Christians to pray like this every day:

Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[a]
And lead us not into temptation.[b]’”
