Dear reader, why would someone stay awake for hours in bed doing nothing?  It is better to pray than to lie awake in bed.

It is God who has woken you up.

First of all, know that you are not waking up by chance. An invisible person has woken you up for a reason. This person is our Heavenly Father, and He wants you to trust Him. God wants you to strengthen your faith; that is why He wants you to get out of bed and talk to Him in prayer.

Staying awake in bed will bring worry to your mind.

Moreover, by staying awake in bed, you are bringing more problems into your life. In fact, if you don’t get out of bed to pray, Satan will continue to bring negative thoughts into your mind. This will add more worries to your unstable mind, and you might do something that could lead you to sin.

Start with the Lord’s Prayer.

In some worrying situations some people find it difficult to pray. However, the solution to this problem is to start with the Lord’s prayer. This prayer is short yet it is so powerful that it will lead you into your next conversation with God.

Read one of the Psalms.

Second, you can deepen your conversation with God by reciting any relevant Psalm. For example, whenever I start to worry, I always recite Psalm 31 to our Heavenly Father. In this way, God always frees me from all my burdens and keeps me from defeat and shame. That’s why Psalm 31 is always etched in my memory. In fact, I don’t need a Bible to recite it.

Remind God some of His promises to you.

Furthermore, you can pray by reminding God some of the promises He has made already made to you. In fact, most of these promises are found in His written word found in the Bible. For example, if you are worried about your enemies, remind God about His promise in Isaiah 49:25.

God’s promise says:

Yes, captives will be taken from warriors,
    and plunder retrieved from the fierce;
I will contend with those who contend with you,
    and your children I will save.

Isaiah 49:25

The weapon to stop Satan is actually found in Luke 11:4
