Keep Sundays Holy.
This is a reminder to all those who still love God. To continue observing Sunday as a holy day. In this article I am mainly focusing on formal work and businesses not related to Church ministry activities.
It is one of the Ten Commandments.
God’s Ten commandments are still valid today. The fourth commandment says:
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20:8-11
Sunday or Saturday?
Do not be taken away by the debate whether to honor the Sabbath on a Saturday or a Sunday. Most important is to dedicate one of these two days to the Lord as a resting day. I find Sunday easier because most countries in the world have recognized Sunday as a resting day.
Satan will accuse you.
If you carry out normal business on a Sunday, Satan will use relevant Scriptures in the Bible to accuse you before God who will give him permission to tempt you. If you are attentive enough, you will see some problems resulting from your working on a Sunday.
Christian businesses.
If you are relying on God for blessings, I beg you to observe Sunday as a resting day. Opening business on Sundays may bring you many curses, instead of blessings.
House helps and other employees.
Do not give your house helps a lot of work on Sunday’s. Give them light assignments to enable them honor God also. Other employees should be given Sunday as a day off normal work.
Opening Business half a day on Sunday.
I have seen some Christians whose argument is that as long as they attend church in the morning, they can open up their business premises in the afternoon. I think this is an insult to God, because the rest day he is talking of starts Sunday 00:00 hours up to Sunday 24:00 hours
