A day is coming in the near future when chaos will cover the entire earth. The day of God’s wrath will soon be upon everyone.
The earth will be in great confusion.
On that day there will be a great earthquake. The sun will turn black, the whole moon will turn blood red, and the stars in the sky will fall to earth. The heavens will recede like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island will be removed from its place.
All kings and presidents will flee.
Second, according to the written word of God in the Bible, every king and president on earth will flee. God will sweep away everything from the face of the earth. The Lord will sweep away both man and beast. He will sweep away the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea— plus the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.”[a]
Princes and princesses will have nowhere to go.
Third, princes and princesses will have nowhere to go because royalty will be no more. Like ordinary citizens, the royals will all find themselves running in all directions.
All Generals and battalion commanders will run away.
Furthermore, all national armies will be untraceable, as the soldiers, seized with fear, will throw away their weapons and combat uniforms. Moreover, all battalion commanders and generals will flee in civilian clothes, for fear of being identified (see Revelation 6:15-17).
The rich will cry.
Additionally, all the rich will cry. Their wealth will be plundered,and their houses demolished. Though they built houses, they will not live in them; though they planted vineyards, they will not drink the wine (see Zephaniah 1:13-14). The great day of the Lord is near— near and coming quickly.
Only those who call upon the Lord will be saved.
Ultimately, the only people who will be spared God’s wrath are those who call on the name of Jesus Christ.
When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the wicked, he will see those calling upon the name of Jesus Christ and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter their houses (see Exodus 12:23).
