When Satan Seems to Have the Upper Hand Over God.

Dear reader, you may not believe it, but it is true. There are times when Satan seems to have the upper hand over God and begins to boast.

You are a new creation.

First, when you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you became a new creature. You were separated from the devil and all his dark ways.

You were born the second time and became a true child of God. After your salvation, you put on the new man, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The Invisible Spiritual Warfare.

Second, when you became a child of God, Satan and the demons began a spiritual warfare to bring you back into the kingdom of darkness. Just as he did with Adam and Eve, Satan’s goal is to draw you away from God and the kingdom of light so that you fall from His glory.

When Satan Gains the Upper Hand.

What pleases Satan is when you give in to his temptations. Like Adam and Eve, you abandon God’s instructions as written in His Word and begin to follow Satan’s sinful suggestions.

How Satan Gains the Upper Hand.

In fact, Satan always speaks to God. To prove the point, read Job 1:9-10 where Satan accuses Job before God. Listen to what the devil says to God:

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

Job 1:9-10

Because He trusts us, God had great faith in Job. Our heavenly Father was sure that Job could not disappoint Him by giving in to sin. God gave Satan permission to go and tempt Job to prove that he is still a faithful person. Listen to God’s response to Satan:

12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

Job 1:12

Job did much good by remaining faithful to God. As a result, God blessed Job and gave him double what he had before he was tempted.

Many Christians fail God’s test.

Job passed the test, but many Christians fail it. When you sin and fall away from the glory of God, Satan will laugh and tell God that his accusations against you were correct.

He will continue to boast that you now belong to his kingdom of darkness. This is why God feels so sad whenever Christians give in to sin. Therefore, do not give in to sin.
