This is exactly what happened to King David after he stole another man’s wife.
Listen to what God said to him:
Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes?
You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own.
You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house,
because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.
God will not bless your marriage.
Your marriage with the stolen woman will not be blessed, therefore it will have lots of troubles.
The other man will curse you.
The man from whom you stole the woman will be left cursing, and some of these curses may affect your life and marriage.
You may lose some of your children.
This is exactly what happened to King David after he stole Bathsheba from one of his army officials called Uriah.
God said to King David like this:
But because by doing this
you have shown utter contempt for[a] the Lord,
the son born to you will die.”
Your children may live a cursed life.
If you and the stolen wife produce any children, they may live a cursed life. For example, when they grow up they may fail to get married or to have stable relationships.
When your sons grow up, they can also steal other men’s wives. This curse can continue for generations.
Other people will steal from you.
Since you have become a thief who steals from other men, God may use other people to grab your personal properties.
Either the man or the woman may die.
Because of the many curses from the aggrieved man whose wife was stolen, either you or the stolen woman may end up dying.
