If I were to advise single Christian men and women who intend to marry soon, I would advise them to get married only to Christian persons. This is exactly what Samson’s parents advised him. They said:
But his father and mother said to him, “Is there no woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised (pagan) Philistines?” And Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, because she[a]looks pleasing to me.
Judges 14:3
Below I give 8 dangers of a non Christian spouse.
1. A non Christian spouse may turn your heart away from God.
This is exactly what happened to King Solomon when he married non-believing women.
Now king Solomon [defiantly] loved [a]many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, 2 from the very nations of whom the Lord said to the Israelites, “You shall not associate with them, nor shall they associate with you, for the result will be that they will turn away your hearts to follow their gods.” Yet Solomon clung to these in love.
1 Kings 11:1-2
2. You may start worshiping other gods.
3. You would have opened a door for Satan and demons to enter into your life.
4. You may lose your inheritance in God’s Kingdom.
So the Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart was turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, 10 and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not follow other gods; but he did not observe (remember, obey) what the Lord had commanded. 11 Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.
1 Kings 11:9-11
5. A non Christian spouse may lead to your suffering:
Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with [two] bronze chains; and he was forced to be a grinder [of grain into flour at the mill] in the prison. 22 But the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaved off.
Judges 16:21-22
6. A non Christian person may lead to your death.
7. A non Christian person may lead you to Hell.
8. A non Christian person may lead to many sorrows of your relatives.
Then his brothers and his father’s entire [tribal] household came down, took him, and brought him up; and they buried him in the tomb of Manoah his father, [which was] between Zorah and Eshtaol. So Samson had judged Israel for twenty years.
