Dear reader, suppose God appeared to you and requested you to ask for anything you want, what answer will you give Him? In this post I plead with you never to ask for any of the following.
Wisdom
King Solomon asked God for wisdom but he ended up with seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines. All these wives led him astray from God (1 Kings 11:3). Which sort of wisdom is this that leads you to Hell?
Riches
Never ask for riches because they will lead you astray from God. Riches will make you confused. Time will come when you will think more about your riches than God. You may have to sell all your riches and give proceedings to the poor in order to reclaim God’s Kingdom in your life (Mark 10:21).
Happiness
If you ask for a lot of happiness, time will come when it will separate you from God.
Food
Do not ask God for food. Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no store room or barn; yet God feeds them. You are more valuable than birds.
Clothes
Do not ask for clothes. Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet not even King Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like flowers. If that is how God dresses the grass in the field, how much more will He clothe you?
What to ask God for.
If God ever gives you an opportunity to ask Him for only one thing you want, do not ask for anything else; ask only for eternal life. Many Christians start well with Jesus but are later distracted and end up in Hell. Therefore ask God only one thing: to assure you that when you leave this world you will be able to go to Heaven and be with Jesus for ever and ever. Plead with God to help you never to go to Hell but to be firm in your salvation with Jesus Christ until you achieve your crown in Heaven.
