Dear reader, you may not believe what I am about to tell you, but it has actually happened to me. I was switching on my home computer and other set-ups to update my ministry websites, when I heard someone crying to God, like Jesus Christ did on the cross: “Why have you forsaken me?” This cry did not come from my surroundings. It came from a far country God did not show me.
It is because of this cry that God changed my plans and instructed me to write this article to give assurance and hope to all those who think that He has forsaken them.
I was about to commit suicide.
Let me start with my own testimony. In 2005, through strange circumstances I lost my well-paid job. For four complete years I had no job or any source of cash income, yet I had a family to look after. In the second year of my joblessness, water and electricity to my house were cut off by the supply companies because I could not afford to pay the bills. I literally became a beggar until I made a final decision to end my life.
I was about to take this action when suddenly I heard a voice telling me: “Your Dad died when you were only eight years of age. He left you to suffer but God upheld you. Why do you want to leave your children the same way your Dad left you?” It was because of this voice that I changed my suicide plans.
Finally, after the four years of joblessness, God came out mightily to my rescue. I got a very good job with a very good salary, I bought whatever I wanted, I started flying abroad, I got new cars, I built a better house, and God restored my ministry.
Jesus Christ lost all hope in God.
Consider what our Lord Jesus Christ went through. He was beaten, mocked, accused falsely, put to public shame and great humiliation by being stripped naked and hung on the cross. Like you, he lost all hope in God. He was sure that his Father in Heaven had abandoned him. As a result, he cried out in great anguish “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” [Mathew 27:46].
Three days after this desperate cry, God came out mightily and rose him out of the dead. He took away all his shame. God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
God will come to your rescue.
Dear reader, God is about to come out mightily to your rescue. The two examples I have given you above prove what I say. Stop thinking that He has forsaken you. Start preparing for a new life of blessings and honor.
