Dear reader, in this article I explain to you why God wants you to eat little, at any invitation.
Let me start with this short true story.
I remember one time I found two American ladies at my workplace discussing their next party.
They were arguing whether they should invite a certain VIP to this party.
One of these ladies rejected the idea of inviting this well guarded official, for only one reason. She said:
His security guards eat too much.
These guards may eat all our food!
That was the end of the discussion. The other American lady was convinced by this reasoning. They never invited this VIP to their party, because his escort group eats too much.
Someone is watching you.
At any place you are invited, someone is watching your eating habits. If you eat too much, they may never invite you again. They are afraid you may eat all their party food.
Father in Heaven is warning you.
Even our Father in Heaven is watching you at every place you are invited. God is advising you to restrain yourself by not eating too much. Even if there is plenty of food on the table, God is advising you to take little for the sake of your dignity and future opportunities.
Listen to what the written word of God in the Bible says:
When you sit down to eat with someone important,
keep in mind who he is.[a]
2 If you have a big appetite, restrain yourself.
3 Don’t be greedy for the fine food he serves;
he may be trying to trick you.
Proverbs 23:1-3
This question is to trick you.
If you are invited to any place, and the host asks you that:
Are you sure you have eaten enough?
Please have some more food.
then know she is tricking you to see if you are a person who eats too much.
It is better to say that you have eaten enough. This answer will please both God our Father, and the person who invited you.
