Dear reader, I don’t know what you are going through right now. You may be going through a very difficult time, and it is possible you may have lost all hope. What I know, and I am very sure about this, God will deliver you out of that situation.
Jesus felt forsaken
Jesus felt what you are going through. He was betrayed by his own, he was beaten, he was insulted, he was stripped half naked, he was mocked and humiliated, he was abandoned and finally he faced death. Like you, he felt abandoned by God. That afternoon, the whole earth[a] was covered with darkness for three hours, from noon until three o’clock. That darkness was like the one surrounding you now. About three o’clock, Jesus shouted, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Like you, he felt forsaken.
God came out in full force
God has his timing. You may think that He has forsaken you, but He has not. Jesus felt so, but the truth is that God had not abandoned him, This is why we should not focus on our timing but God’s. Finally, at the right time, God came out in full force and He delivered him. He rose him from the dead. He glorified Jesus and put his name above all other names.
My situation was worse than yours.
Dear reader, my situation may have been worse that yours. For four full years I had no job, yet I had a family to take care of. My electricity was cut off due to non-payment. My water was disconnected. I had no fuel or fire wood, instead I was using pieces of paper to make fire to cook food. To make matters worse, I was being tormented by demons. God seemed so far away because none of my frequent prayers was being answered. I felt God had forsaken me.
Again God came out in full force
Like Jesus, I thought that God had abandoned me. So I prayed what I thought would be my last prayer. This was my last prayer:
“Father, why have you forsaken me? What happened to all your promises to me?”
After that prayer I went to sleep. Then something happened. About one hour into sleep, I experienced a supernatural vision. In this vision I saw myself lying on earth facing the sky which was clear blue without a single cloud. Then suddenly I saw a small white cloud emerge out of Heaven. It was descending to where I was sleeping. The strange thing about this cloud was that it contained a heavenly choir. I could hear the choir singing and it became bigger and bigger until it covered me. The song the heavenly choir was singing had only one chorus:
“Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! …”
Then the cloud and heavenly choir lifted back to heaven. It was at that moment that I woke up and realized God had been speaking to me assuring me of His faithfulness. From that day onward doors of God’s blessings started opening in my life up to the present. The shameful four years went away like river water that never comes back.
