If God said ‘Yes’
In case the couple consulted Heavenly Father about this marriage, and he said ‘Yes’, then you can precisely say that the marriage will last.
Isaac and Rebekah’s marriage.
The sign I am talking about can easily be seen from Isaac and Rebekah’s relationship. Anyone could tell that this marriage would be a success because God was involved in the decision making.
Abraham gave his senior servant a difficult task of looking for a suitable wife for his son Isaac. To overcome this obstacle, and to find a wife who would make a lasting marriage, Abraham’s servant consulted God.
Listen to how this servant consulted God:
Then he prayed,
“Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today,
and show kindness to my master Abraham.
See, I am standing beside this spring,
and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.
May it be that when I say to a young woman,
‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’
and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’
—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac.
By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”
Genesis 24:12-14
God was so kind to this servant of Abraham and gave him the exact sign he was asking for. It was proof that Isaac’s marriage with Rebekah would last.
Always consult God before marriage.
If you want your marriage to last, it is always best to first seek guidance and confirmation from Heavenly Father. As it was in the case of Isaac and Rebekah, before you get married, God will guide you whether you are with the right partner or not.
