Many people fail in life and they don’t understand why. “You will succeed – if you always consult me first” says God.

You acknowledge God’s sovereignty.

First, putting God first in every aspect of life is not merely a religious obligation; it is a strategic imperative that ensures success and peace. When we make God the first priority in our plans, thoughts, and actions, we acknowledge His sovereignty and invite His wisdom into our lives.

You honor Him.

Second, consulting God first honors Him, signaling that we trust His omniscience more than our own understanding.
For example, King David, in his early reign, established a powerful precedent for this, modeling the importance of divine guidance. When faced with the Philistine threat in 2 Samuel 5:19 and 1 Chronicles 14:10, David did not immediately rally his troops or rely on his previous military expertise. Instead, he asked God,

“Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?”.

Because David consulted Him first, God promised victory. David obeyed, resulting in a dramatic, decisive breakthrough at Baal Perazim, where he exclaimed that God broke through his enemies like a bursting flood. David sought God again when the threat returned, showing a consistent habit of divine consultation.

It pleases God.

Furthermore, our Heavenly Father is pleased when we consult Him first. This act of submission invites Him to direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6) and often brings supernatural ideas and strategies that human intellect cannot produce.

God will bless you.

When you put God first, He blesses whatever you do, turning struggles into “Baal Perazim” experiences—situations where God brings breakthrough.

Conclusion.

In  conclusion, putting God first ensures you are walking in alignment with His will. It brings divine peace and protection, transforming your efforts into lasting success. As the Bible promises in Matthew 6:33, seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness first means everything else you need will be added to you.
