Dear reader, you might find it hard to believe this, but it’s true. Heavenly Father knows of some people in this world who cannot seek him unless they are in trouble. In this article I share with you six problems God permits into people’s lives so that they seek him wholeheartedly.
Sometimes God allows enemies to come into people’s lives so that they seek him.
In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears.
If you read the Bible, you will find that God used wars to bring back the hearts of rebellious people.
Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand,
so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.[a]
But the Egyptians mistreated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labor.
Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors,
and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression.
So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
with great terror and with signs and wonders.
The Bible mentions many people who sought God because they were sick.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to shout,
“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
God may allow grief so that people seek him with all their hearts.
Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress;
my eyes grow weak with sorrow,
my soul and body with grief.
God may allow a person to be imprisoned so that that person seeks him.
Set me free from my prison,
that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me
because of your goodness to me.
God allows these six problems so people can seek him.
