7 Reasons to always start with the Lord’s Prayer
Many Christians have forgotten the Lord’s Prayer reasoning that they have other ways of praying to God. I have no problem with all the other prayer methods, but below I give 7 reasons why every Christian must always start with the Lord’s Prayer before starting any other prayer.
This is how Jesus instructed us to pray. Jesus said:
‘9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a] but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
Jesus himself prayed like this always.
If he had other ways of praying, he would have told his disciples.
The Lord’s Prayer has ALL the requests we need to make to our Father in Heaven.
For example, if God’s Kingdom comes on earth and His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven then there will be no sickness, no suffering, no wars, no poverty on earth.
The Lord’s Prayer protects us from the Devil.
When we ask the Lord not to lead us into temptation, we are saying: “Father, do not permit the Devil to tempt me”. Read here more about this revelation.
The Lord’s Prayer helps us to be pure by always asking for God’s forgiveness.
The Lord’s Prayer reminds us always to forgive others to enable God forgive us.
The Lord’s Prayer is generally short.
Jesus said (Mathew 6:7 NIV):
“ And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him“
